The only options provided are to Install Now, Remind Me Later, or Don’t Install. Unfortunately, there is no option on this popup to disable the prompt forever. I’ve decided I had enough of Flash Player being this intrusive. I had to disable it. Here’s how:

  • Double-click the “Adobe Flash Player Update Service“.
  • For the “Startup type“, choose “Disabled“.
  • Select “OK” and close the “Services” window.

  • Navigate to the following location depending on your operating system.
    • 32-bit Windows – C:WindowsSystem32MacromedFlash
    • 64-bit Windows – C:WindowsSysWow64MacromedFlash
    • Linux – /etc/adobe/
    • MacOS – /Library/Application Support/Macromedia
  • Open the “mms.cfg” file using a text editor such as Notepad.
  • Change the line that says “AutoUpdateDisable=0” to “AutoUpdateDisable=1“.
  • Close and save the file. Adobe Flash should no longer prompt for updates.
